April 10: Have Some Fancy Pastries on National Croissant Day
French cuisine has been an epitome of culinary excellence and sophistication, from creating dishes with rich taste but subtle nuances and creating pastries that are rich and flavourful. One of these pastries that has influenced the world is the croissant, a crescent shaped pastry that is now part of every breakfast buffet in world. Created by the French to rival American style fast food, the croissant is considered by the French as their quick snack or brunch food and is now sold in every store available. Not only is it popular in France, It is now a favourite all over the world especially those who love to travel.
This pastry is made with the same technique as creating a puff pastry, popular in England, but with additional ingredients like butter which is then rolled and folded multiple times which creates a flaky texture on the pastry. Over time, they are also filled with chocolate, cheese and other flavourful fillings which make them very popular to eat on the go.
Today we celebrate one of the most popular versions of this pastry, which is known in America, the Cinnamon Croissant. In celebration of this food holiday, our Dishfolio food bloggers shared with us their ideas on how to make the perfect croissant. The online food recipes they share are beautiful and creative, and coupled with your ideas we are sure that the best food photographers would take their time to take a picture of your dish.
