November 15: Indulge in Fries this King's Feast (Belgium)
Behold a new dynasty of Belgian cuisine this King's Feast! Also known as Dynasty Day or Feast of the Dynasty, King's Feast commemorates King Leopold who was the first monarch of Belgium following independence from the Netherlands in 1831. It has been celebrated since 1866. The Belgium Federal Parliament holds a ceremony and most government offices close that day.
Belgium is known for waffles, fries, chocolate, and beer but offers so much more with common ingredients including potatoes, white asparagus, rustic breads, and cheese.
