February 15: Celebrate National Flag Day of Canada with Maple Syrup Recipe
The celebration for the National Flag Day of Canada began in 1965 and is celebrated annually on February 15th. The Canadian flag as it appears today was launched in 1868 but the official proclamation of the flag did not occur until January 28, 1965 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. The center of the Canada's flag features the 11-pointed red maple leaf, designed by George Stanley and John Matheson.
In honor of the Canadian flag, we here at Dishfolio are featuring online food recipes from our food bloggers that feature the Canadian favorite, maple syrup. Did you know that in Canada, syrups must be at least 66 percent sugar and be made exclusively from maple sap to qualify as maple syrup? Whether as a topping for your pancake, for glazing on your chicken or mixed with your hot coffee, no one can resist this sweet treat! Check out these featured concoctions from our Dishfolio food bloggers that are not only delicious but so beautiful it would inspire the best food photographers in the world!
