October 27: Go Back to Basics on Italys Slow Food Festival
The idea of Slow Food was created by Carlo Petrini in 1986. Petrini was reacting to the increasing popularity of highly-processed fast food, and as a result created this movement attempts to preserve traditional recipes which focus on home-cooking.
Since the creation of this movement, Slow Food has been celebrated at an annual festival in Turin. At this festival, and at similar festivals which take place around the world, participants can enjoy markets selling local produce, food tasting, cooking workshops and chef discussions.
Did you know that there is a Slow Food movement here in America which encourages home-grown produce and traditional cooking? At Dishfolio, we love the idea of preserving traditional ways of life, and think that the Slow Food movement is a great initiative. If you'd like to support the Slow Food movement, why not look up tips on how to make healthy meals at home?
