June 26: Explore Orange Blossom Recipes - It's National Orange Blossom Day!
The orange blossom looks stunning in the sunshine. It's probably apt that it is the official state flower in Florida, with its own holiday every year in June. Debate rages on as to whether the celebration refers to this plant, or an orange blossom drink that was first devised during the Prohibition period.
When it comes to the drink, it's very simple to make, but easy to make your own. A classic recipe that's easy to scale up or down depending on how many drinking buddies you have, take two parts of freshly-squeezed orange juice to one part gin. If you're feeling adventurous, be sure to add some grenadine too, as this will add a refreshing twist. You might decide to pour it over some crushed ice, too, which would also make for some great food styling.
But if you're a lover of cooking with orange blossoms, we've got ideas for how to create those delicious and beautiful dishes here from our Dishfolio food bloggers: recipes for orange blossom breads, orange blossom tea, cookies, and candies!
