May 12: Go Nuts on Nutty Fudge Day!
Fudge is no accident on Nutty Fudge Day! However, that is how it started out. In the late 1880's, a baker created fudge while attempting to create caramel. This happy accident has been enjoyed immensely to this day. Cole Porter loved the gooey concoction so much he had nine pounds a month shipped to him from Arnold's Fudge, a fudge proprietor in his hometown of Peru, Indiana.
Many fudge recipes emerge around the world but nutty fudge remains the favorite. Make a batch to share with coworkers, friends, and family or enjoy it at home. Fudge can be frozen and stores well for three to six months, allowing you to enjoy it long after the conclusion of Nutty Fudge Day. However and with whom you enjoy it, this is a great excuse to purposely recreate a baking error gone well!
