January 25: Have a Scottish Burns Supper on Burns Night
The 25th of January is marked as Burns Night in Scotland. During Burns night, groups of families or friends congregate at a Burns supper to commemorate the life and discuss poetry by Robert Burns. Robert Burns is a celebrated Scottish poet who is recognized as a pioneer of the Romantic movement. Often, they serve haggis, a traditional Scottish dish which Burns pays homage to in his poem Address to a Haggis.
Scottish cuisine is characterized by Scotland's abundance of natural produce. Their natural larder features a wide array of game, seafood, dairy, fruits and vegetables. It's no wonder that Scotland has produced some of the most famous chefs in the world including multiple Michelin awardee Gordon Ramsay.
