October 9: Keep It Healthy with Fish on Baltic Herring Festival!
The Baltic Herring Festival is a week-long food festival where local fishermen offer the herrings that they have caught and cooked themselves. This festival was established in 1743, and since then fishermen have been using the festival to showcase different ways of cooking herrings.
Today, the festival attracts attendees from all over the world. It is held in Helsinki, Finland, and people who go to the festival can try everything from traditional smoked herring to tropical fish. Here at Dishfolio, we'd love to give it a go!
Did you know that, along with fish, one of the most popular dishes in Finland is hernekeitto, pea soup? Finnish cuisine is largely based around fish and meat, and is rich in protein which is essential for a healthy diet.
