October 3: Celebrate German Day of Unity with Delicious German Recipes!
Here at Dishfolio, we love to celebrate the history and culture of different countries through food, and the Day of German Unity is no exception! This national celebration originated in 1990, and commemorates the unification of Germany which occurred in the year following the fall of the Berlin Wall.
This historical celebration is the perfect chance to try some traditional German foods. Why not try a Bratwurst, a pork sausage often served in a bun and available from bars, pubs and street vendors throughout Germany? Or, if you're feeling more adventurous, you could try the Blutwurst, which is made from the blood of pigs or geese.
Did you know that pork is the most commonly-consumed meat in Germany? If you'd like to celebrate the Day of German Unity this month, there are lots of quick and easy dinner ideas using traditional German recipes available online.
