December 5: Celebrating Hanukkah with Brisket!
Hanukkah or the Festival of Lights is an eight-day Jewish celebration that commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple, the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Part of the tradition of Hanukkah is eating foods baked in oil and one of these include having meat dishes for dinner such as the Hanukkah favorite brisket.
Brisket is basically a cut of meat from the breast of lower chest of beef or veal. For Jewish brisket recipes, it is usually braised as a pot roast and served as the main course during traditional Jewish holidays. But even if you're not Jewish, you will definitely appreciate the savory taste of a well-cooked brisket and will no doubt be inspired to include it in your collection of family dinner recipes.

Pot Roast
This pot roast recipe has been made by 3 generations in my family; my grandmother, my mother and now by me. It is an old world recipe which is definitely comfort food. It is made with first cut beef brisket and braised on top of the stove for 3 hours and what you get is a very tender, juicy meat that is full of flavor.
