It's seven days until Christmas and our Dishfolio food bloggers are all atwitter about the nearing festivities! Today, we feature classic Christmas drinks recipes for holiday favorite, the Eggnog! There are several accounts regarding the origin of the eggnog. Some believe believe that it was derived from the medieval English drink, posset while other stories say that it was derived from egg and grog, a Colonial term for drinks made with rum.
This sweet concoction is dairy-based and normally made up of milk, cream, sugar and whipped eggs. If you and your guests need that extra punch, you can always mix in some alcohol like beer, rum, bourbon or whisky. And for that extra kick, the finished product is drizzled with spices like nutmeg or cinnamon.
