August 12: Delicious Rum Recipes on National Rum Day!
Rum is an alcoholic drink made from fermented sugarcane products, and here at Dishfolio we were surprised to learn that people have been making similar drinks for thousands of years. The first precursor to rum was probably developed in ancient India or China, and this precursor then spread across the world.
Today, rum is mainly produced in the Caribbean and Latin America, however, it is shipped all over the world and you can buy rum from anywhere from your local supermarket to specialist alcohol shops. Rum can be enjoyed over ice, in a cocktail or even in a hot chocolate, as well as in many dessert recipes.
Did you know that "rum" is also an old British slang term, used to describe something as "the best"? Because rum can be enjoyed in so many diverse ways, it has been the subject of beautiful culinary photography over the years.
