November 6: Enjoy a Nordic Twist this Finnish Swedish Heritage Day

Unity and unique cuisine make for a great Finnish Swedish Heritage Day! This day celebrates the Swedish-speaking communities in Finland and features radio program along with local celebrations. It was created in 1908 when Swedish nationals living in Finland wanted their own day. There was strife between the Finns and Swedes until after World War II, when they decided to focus on their similarities and common roots instead of their differences.
