May 14: Chicken Dance and Chicken Dinners are a Natural Combination for Dance Like A Chicken Day
Nothing like a silly party dance to inspire great chicken recipes! The melody for the chicken dance was composed by a Swiss accordion player named Werner Thomas. He started performing the music in his restaurant in 1963. While he played, patrons rose from their seats and started dancing in random and sporadic movements that reminded Thomas of the motions of ducks and chickens. When this import arrived in the U.S. in 1970, Americans developed a specific choreography resembling wings, tail, and beak. The Chicken Dance was born!
While the Chicken Dance is best known for performances at
weddings, summer camps, and birthday parties, nothing stops you
