February 17: Show a Random Act of Kindness by Sharing a Cookie
The Random Acts of Kindness Day is an unofficial holiday that is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. The movement started in New Zealand in 2004 when co-founder Josh de Jong was stuck in traffic and saw some irate up ahead getting into a row. He began to wonder what it would be like if on one day, everyone was just kind to strangers, and thus Random Acts of Kindness Day began. September 1st is the chosen date for New Zealand but in the United States, February 17th is the chosen day for the celebration.
If you'd like to partake of this lovely holiday, you can
choose to perhaps buy someone coffee, give up your parking space
for someone who might just need it more, or better yet, make some
cookies for your neighbors or just people you meet on the way to
