June 20: Learn to Make Your Own Candy this National Candy Month
A month to celebrate your sweet tooth! Human history is full of sweets. The Egyptians liked nuts and fruits in honey. Aztecs and Mayans consumed chocolate. Today, Americans eat an average of 25 pounds of candy per year, which is still lower than the Demark candy consumption rate of 36 pounds per year. While the temptation to pick up store bought candy remains, National Candy Month is a great opportunity to experiment with homemade candy recipes and even create some beautiful food photography.
The possibilities are endless with traditional candy. Whether you prefer caramel, chocolate, hard candy, or even sour candies, there are many varieties to make in recognition of National Candy Month. All candy varieties are based in sugar and water with additional ingredients to make each variety unique. These online food recipes from our Dishfolio food bloggers are a great start in helping you celebrate a favorite of children and adults alike!
