September 20: Enjoy Korean Dishes on Mid-Autumn Festival!

Korea's Mid-Autumn Festival, often referred to as Chuseok, has many parallels with the American Thanksgiving. As such, the food-lovers at Dishfolio were immediately hopeful that the delicacies enjoyed by Koreans on their special day would rival those we tuck into on July 4th! Fortunately, we weren't disappointed!

Rice is a staple in Korea, and Chuseok is recognized by many as an opportunity to give thanks for this fundamental grain. When ground into flour, rice forms the basis of hangwa, an umbrella term for Korean confectionery which dates back to the era of three kingdoms. Today, it's enjoyed alongside songpyeon, a rice cake combining pine needles with honey or sweet bean paste.

If learning about Chuseok has whet your appetite for Korean cuisine, why not sign up for a Korean cooking class? From quick appetizer recipes to family dinner recipes, you'll encounter an array of Asian dishes to push the boundaries of your cooking ability!
