October 10: Join the Fall Truffle Fairs in Italy with Truffle Recipes!

Truffles are a kind of fungus which often grows near the roots of trees, and the edible types of truffles have been consumed for thousands of years. Some of the oldest written records of the consumption of truffles date back to 400 BCE!

Today, truffles are celebrated at truffle fairs which happen throughout central and northern Italy, in areas such as Tuscany and Piedmont. Here, you can try truffles that have been locally sourced and prepared, often for a much more reasonable price that you would pay in a restaurant.

Did you know that the most expensive truffle ever sold was a white truffle which cost $330,000 in 2010? Here at Dishfolio, we're not sure we'd pay that much for one truffle!
