October 1: Beer, Beer and More Beer on Oktoberfest!
Beer has been consumed for many thousands of years, and it is thought that beer was first brewed and drank in 9500 BC. The earliest written recordings of beer date back to the ancient Egyptian and Iraqi cultures.
Today, beer is the third most commonly consumed drink (after water and tea), and is celebrated every year in a German beer festival known as Oktoberfest. At Dishfolio, we love any excuse for a celebration, and Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival where participants can try out lots of local beers brewed in Munich. There are also lots of food tents, where attendees can buy traditional German snacks such as Bratwurst.
Did you know that beers at the Oktoberfest can cost as much as nine Euros? The Munich Oktoberfest is the longest food and drinks festival in the world, and as a result it attracts some of the best food photographers in the world.
