November 29: Celebrate National Day in Poland with Amazing Polish Recipes
The National Independence Day in Poland is a celebration of the resumption of independent statehood in the year 1918. This historic event occurred after the country was under the control and partition of Russia, Austria and Prussia for 123 years. For this reason, the Independence Day is celebrated all over the country, and involves some traditional and modern Polish foods.
Dishfolio has some beautiful food photography that shows you what Polish dishes are meant to look like, as well as recipes to help you cook your own dishes on this important day. These recipes are sometimes based on the Republic era of cuisine, but after World War II, Polish cuisine changed dramatically.
It was after Poland's fall to Soviet communism that restaurants began serving pork chops, meatballs and soups. These were chosen as they were cheap, but they are now an essential part of cuisine and are often accompanied by spices and vegetables that are grown natively, including cabbages, potatoes and onions.
