June 15: Tasty Fudge Creations for National Fudge Day
Fudge is firmly a product of the United States, and originated in the late 1900s. Made from a simple medley of butter, sugar, and milk, it's delicious but calorific. If you were to tuck into 100 grams of the confectionery, this could be as much as 450 calories out of your daily allowance. They're also rich in sugar.
Some ambitious confectioners have given fudge a new lease of life in recent years. Creating your own recipes is easy to do at home, especially if you follow the traditional method and then add walnuts, peanut butter, some chocolate, or syrup. When you're feeling particularly naughty, you might choose to add liquors such as Irish cream.
Known for their chewy consistency, fudge can also be incorporated into other desserts, such as cookies and brownies. Any top food photographer won't be able to resist taking a picture! Try some easy fudge recipes from our Dishfolio food bloggers today!
