October 13: Explore New Combinations This Columbus Day
A good day to explore options!! Columbus Day has been celebrated unofficially since the late 18th century and officially in many countries since the early 20th century. While this day commemorates the day Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas, there is controversy surrounding his effects on indigenous cultures. Some states and cities opted to change this day to Indigenous People's Day.
Controversy aside, both views offer excellent food traditions. Italian-Americans take time for a day off from work and celebrate traditional Italian cuisine. Check out some new ideas on the Italian food styling found by Dishfolio food bloggers and work beyond the usual pasta and sauce. For a more indigenous approach, attempt new variations in food styling using uniquely North American ingredients. Potatoes, corn, peppers, and even chocolate all have roots in North America. With a few substitutions, you can even combine food traditions. No matter how you see this there are delicious online food recipes for the occasion!
